One year ago on this day I was getting on the place that would have taken me here. I only had what could fit into two suitcases, my hubby and my heart. Looking back, I now understand better the real meaning of making choices, because when we are forced to leave something we learn how to choose what is important. Sometimes we’ll take what is useful; sometimes what makes us happy, what we find pretty, what make us feel safe. And I know, as I knew back then, that wherever I am, I am home, because I don’t need a suitcase to bring with me what’s important. Love, hope, courage. Those are the things that made a will make a place my home. And I am lucky enough to have had the opportunity to call home every place I have lived in. I left a little piece of my heart in every place, in every person that I shared that part of my life with, and the magic trick is that you can do it forever, your heart won’t shrink. Instead, it will regrow, bigger and better, and you will have the gift to have lots of places to call “home”. Because the world is as big as your heart is.

So open it wide, and go find your home.
